Neutrino Day - Where Science and Fun Collide

Join us on July 13th for Neutrino Day! Sanford Underground Research Facility’s free, citywide science festival. 

Participate in hoistroom tours, science activities and exhibits for all ages. Have live video chats with scientists underground, and engaging talks about the research happening beneath your feet.  Throughout the day, attendees will find all their Neutrino Day favorites and discover new experiences, activities and speakers.  

Neutrino Day takes place at locations across Lead including:

- Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center
- Sanford Underground Research Facility
- Handley Recreation Center
- Historic Homestake Opera House 

Start your day at the Visitor Center, then take buses to other locations throughout Lead. Check out the schedule here!

Black Hills Corvette Classic

The Black Hills Corvette Classic (BHCC) is the longest-running Corvette event in the nation.
This annual event was started in 1971 by the Sioux Falls Corvette Club and is operated by volunteers to celebrate America's sports car-2024 marks the 53nd year. The BHCC attracts people from all across the US and Canada.
There is an amazing lineup of activities, group rides, seminars, races, vendors, and entertainment with the culminating event being the Corvette Show and Shine in historic downtown Spearfish.

25th Annual Hill City Quilt and Fiber Arts Show

Enjoy spectacular Black HIlls fall colors at the Hill City Quilt & Fiber Arts Show.
Over 300 quilts and fiber arts items will be on display in the school gym and along Main Street in Hill City.
Attendees can vote for their favorites in several categories and the overall Best of Show Award and visit with the featured quilter and fiber artist. Children can design quilt blocks and learn embroidery. Vendors will share new and exciting sewing and craft-related products.
Saturday features an evening dinner, trunk show, and bed turning; reservations are required and the form is available on the website.

Mother's Day Tours at the Historic Adams House

In honor of Mother’s Day, the Historic Adams House and the Days of ‘76 Museum will offer free admission to visiting mothers.
Show your mom how much you love her by sharing a tour of the beautifully restored Queen Anne-style home and explore vintage wagons, carriages, and stagecoaches from 1875-1910.
The Historic Adams House is open 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the Days of ’76 Museum is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Steeped in Tradition

Did you know the Black Hills Roundup began as a World War I fundraiser in 1918, drawing 15,000 people to Belle Fourche, a town with only 1,410 residents? The event has since grown into a four-performance PRCA rodeo, attracting top-ranked cowboys and cowgirls. Notable visits include President Calvin Coolidge in 1927, and the tradition of a live cowboy band continues to this day.

Sturgis Buffalo Chip Legends Ride

Be a part of the Legends Ride, a 50-mile ride from Deadwood to Sturgis, and help raise money for regional charities. Celebrities lead the ride to the legendary Buffalo Chip, where a private reception is followed by a headlining concert.
The Legends Ride was created to bring motorcyclists and rally goers together to raise money for a good cause. Since its inception in 2008, the Legends Ride has raised almost a half a million dollars.

Patsy's Day

Attention dog and cat lovers!
Share in this annual celebration honoring Patsy, the beloved terrier of William Emery Adams. Guests who make a donation of any pet product for the Twin City Animal Shelter will receive free admission to the Historic Adams House on April 20. Guided tours on Patsy’s Day are hourly; the first tour leaving at 10:00 a.m. and the last tour of the day leaving at 4:00 p.m. Photos of cats and dogs available for adoption will be on display.

History on the Lawn: The Past is Present

Portrait photographer and artist Kary Janousek from Fargo, North Dakota, will touch on the historical beginnings of photography and how it affected society.
Explaining briefly the process of wet plate collodion and its specific role in history from the 1850s to the late 1880s, and why it still has a place in modern society today.
The demonstration will pose a sitter, creating the plate, taking the exposure, and then fixing it on site for people to see the results.
Five addition sittings will be sold for $75 per sitting at 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, and 3:30 p.m. Bring a lunch and enjoy the Historic Adams House lawn; 12:00 noon; free for members and $5 for non-members.
In case of inclement weather, the lecture will be moved to the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center (HARCC).

The Deadwood Chamber is looking for individuals and businesses that would like to give out candy at the Days of ’76 Event Complex for Trunk or Treat.
