The Black Hills & Badlands of South Dakota

The Black Hills are simply a winter wonderland! We think winter can get a bad rap – it actually provides all sorts of amazing adventures, as long as it's not too cold to enjoy them. The Black Hills are a genuine oasis in a sea of prairie, where daytime highs average 15 degrees warmer than the surrounding area, while the higher elevations receive over 200 inches of snow annually! It creates perfect conditions for making the most of the season, whether it's skiing or setting out on one of the top snowmobile trail systems in North America.

Best of all, year-round access means the four presidential faces carved high on Mount Rushmore, the wildlife of Custer State Park, the wondrous caverns of Wind Cave, the otherworldly Badlands in the east to Devils Tower in the west – all are open year-round! Add in the region's rich western history, and abundant natural beauty, the Black Hills are home to many truly monumental adventures.
