VIP Training Cards

Since 1954, Black Hills & Badlands Tourism Association has distributed VIP Cards to paid BH&B members. Tourism industry employees may use the cards to visit local tourism businesses for free or at a reduced price. This program has grown to approximately 11,000 tourism industry employees using the card annually.

Using your BH&B VIP Training Card

  • The Visitor Industry Partners (VIP) Training Cards are courtesy of Black Hills & Badlands Tourism Association and our participating members. They are a special invitation to you and your employees to learn about many of the experiences the Black Hills and Badlands have to offer.
  • The VIP Training Cards are a training program. They are a way to acquaint travel industry employees with the many tourism businesses and various towns and roads throughout the region. The better you and your employees know the area, the better equipped you are to help deliver our visitors a memorable experience. This program provides serious cross-selling opportunities, combined with serious fun.
  • The VIP Training Card is a great learning tool for all member visitor industry businesses, helping increase the knowledge of workers who take advantage of its program benefits. It is important to emphasize the VIP Training Card is neither “a free ticket” nor a “season pass.” It is a card that identifies you as a member of the Black Hills and Badlands travel industry and provides you the opportunity for great experiences.
  • We hope you and your employees will frequently use your VIP Training Card and enjoy the many attractions and activities found throughout the Black Hills & Badlands region.

 

Participation Guidelines

Please understand that the purpose of the program is training. By distributing the cards, you are participating in the Visitor Industry Partner (VIP) Training Program. We ask for your help and cooperation by observing the following guidelines.

  1. Employers should issue VIP identification cards to qualified partners only. Qualified partners include your tourism industry employees, managers, owners and full- or part-time seasonal volunteers.
  2. Employers should not issue cards to individuals who do not work for your business, including family, friends, neighbors, customers, business associates or one-time volunteers.
  3. Please brief your employees on the card's purpose, which is to learn about the many experiences the Black Hills and Badlands businesses and communities have to offer. 
  4. To receive the benefits offered by participating businesses, both the employer and employee must sign the card. The card is only valid when signed and presented with the employee's personal identification card.
  5. Please post the VIP Card Benefits mini-poster on your company bulletin board. The poster is available to download and print on this page.
  6. If you dismiss an employee, please recover the employee's VIP Training Card.
