On Main Street in Lead, the Black Hills Mining Museum, the Official Mining Museum of South Dakota, is dedicated to the thousands of hard working men and women who were responsible for the rich 130-year history of mining in the area.

This realistic exhibit offers the only comprehensive look at both early-day and modern underground mining in the Black Hills, showcasing the story of the Western Hemisphere’s deepest gold mine.
Tours last approximately one hour, start on the hour and are handicap accessible. Our friendly guides are dedicated to ensuring you have an enjoyable and educational experience.
