In the Southern Hills...

Don’t let the name fool you, the Little Devil’s Tower Trail leads to some big views! Though it is rated as difficult, this 2.5-mile round-trip trail is the perfect opportunity to explore a small part of the Black Elk Wilderness and to view other icons that you’ll want to explore like the Cathedral Spires.

You’ll walk through groves of pine and aspen trees to a view that is worth the trek – and if you’re lucky you might spot a mountain goat at the top!

In the Badlands…

The Door Trail is known for its proximity to stunning views. This boardwalk trail extends for a ¼ mile to a “break” in the Badlands wall where you can catch a stunning glimpse of the Badlands.

If the kids keep asking, “Are we there yet?” This trail makes for a satisfying “yes!”

For those looking for a more moderate hike, the Notch Trail is a fun, adventurous 1.5-mile roundtrip trek that will take you through a scenic canyon, climbing a wooden ladder to an expansive view of the Badlands.

In Rapid City...

Dinosaurs once ruled the earth millions of years ago, but did you know that they still rule the sky in Rapid City? Dinosaur Park in the Skyline Wilderness has been a free attraction with colossal concrete dinos since the 1930’s, and it’s the perfect photo-op and view of the city. Walk along the dinosaurs and grab an ice cream treat!

Add additional miles and extend the hike along the Skyline Wilderness Trail system, which will weave you through the pines and provide a more serene hike in Rapid City.

We promise this trail is fan favorite. And if you don’t want to take our word for it, Owl City composed a ballad for this charming spot- that means we’re not the only ones singing its praise!
