We’re proud to share that our President & CEO, Michelle Thomson, recently earned her Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) designation from Destinations International—widely recognized as the tourism industry’s highest educational achievement for destination professionals.
Michelle completed the rigorous CDME program earlier this year, which included six courses, comprehensive course papers, and a final exam. Graduation for the 2025 CDME class was held during Destinations International’s Annual Convention. The program is designed to elevate destination leaders by strengthening their strategic thinking, leadership skills, and destination management expertise.
Michelle shared, “The CDME program challenged me to think differently and more strategically about destination leadership. I'm excited to apply what I've learned to continue strengthening our region's tourism industry and supporting our incredible members.”
BH&B also extends congratulations to Tyson Steiger of Visit Rapid City, who earned his CDME this year as well. We're proud to see Black Hills & Badlands tourism leaders investing in the future of our industry!
