Trip plans, brochures and free travel guides, maps, free reservation phones, weather radar, road reports and a friendly and knowledgeable staff – Black Hills Visitor Information Center wants to smooth your way and max your vacation fun in the Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota.
We’re easy to find – on the north side of Interstate 90 at Exit 61 in Rapid City, near Cabelas. And inside our spacious facility, there’s free wireless Internet, a video theatre and a list of today’s events. Check out our retail shop for a great selection of regional books, jewelry, pottery and one-of-a-kind gifts. Pick up state park passes, fishing licenses and free maps – area, state and region. Have a question or need detailed directions? Our travel experts have all the answers – and if they don’t, they’ll find the person who does.
The visitor information center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours depending on the time of year. During the peak summer season, our traveler-friendly hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. We have sparkling clean restrooms, pet exercise areas and plenty of free parking.
