Junior Ranger Day / Animal Observations

  • Junior Ranger Day / Animal Observations
Event Date:
Saturday, July 18, 2020 - 10:00am to 11:30am

Although most visitors venture to Jewel Cave National Monument for a ranger-guided cave tour, there other activities on the surface that might be of interest ... especially for kids. When was the last time you took your family on a nature hike? Have you ever spotted tracks and wondered about the species? Do your kids have "eagle eyes" and spot things outside?

This Junior Ranger Day is geared for Pee Wee Rangers (ages 3 and 4), as well as Junior Rangers (ages 5 to 12). Yet, anyone can participate in the program and possibly earn a badge and an embroidered patch. The intent of this activity is to expose participants to various signs of wildlife within the national monument.

July is the perfect time to be outside and exploring the outdoors. Make plans with your family to visit Jewel Cave ... sure, take a cave tour ... but set aside 10 - 11:30 a.m. for an engaging youth program. Interested participants need to meet at the visitor center. All youth participants must be accompanied by an adult, parent, or guardian.
