Join us for first day hikes at Custer State Park to start the year off right! First Day Hikes are a nationwide initiative to encourage people to get outside and enjoy nature. On January 1, 2024 Custer State Park will be offering 3 different hikes which will vary in distance and rigor.
Hike 1 - 8:00 AM
Little Devils Tower Trail
Meet at the Sylvan Lake Day Use Area to start off 2024 on the right foot. Join a Park Naturalist on a scaling of Custer State Park’s highest point. We will watch the sun continue to rise on a new year. Rugged, strenuous 3 mile trail.
Hike 2 - 10:00 AM
Stockade Lake Trail
Meet at Stockade Lake Beach/Trailhead to start off 2024 on the right foot. Join a Park Naturalist for a moderate 1.5 mile hike through the ponderosa pine forest.
Hike 3 - 1:00 PM
Creekside Trail
Meet at the Peter Norbeck Outdoor Education Center to start your year off on the right foot. 1.5 mile easy paved trail. Stroller friendly.
Remember to dress for the weather!
