Sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and touted as one of the best rodeos in the state, The Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo is not only great for its rodeo action but it’s also great because of its rich history and additional events surrounding the week of the rodeo.
Leading up to the main rodeo performances on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights are a golf tournament on Tuesday, a parade Saturday morning through Mitchell, a cowboy church service Sunday morning and a chili cook-off and country music showdown Sunday afternoon.
The Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo and Bull Bash events are held at the outdoor Horsemen Sports Arena located just North of Lake Mitchell on Hwy 37.

Tuesday – July 13, 2021

  • 5:00 pm: Community Kickoff – Rodeo Grounds – Sponsors: KMIT & Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo Committee
     

Thursday – July 15, 2021

  • 8:00 am:  Rodeo Queen Contest - Rodeo Grounds
  • 8:00 pm:  Extreme Bull Riding - Rodeo Grounds 
  • Mutton Bustin’ – Open to children ages 4-6, 60 lbs. or under. Enjoy the thrills & spills as these little riders compete nightly for 3’ foot trophies! 
  • Kids Candy Toss – Nightly also.
     

Friday – July 16, 2021

  • 8:00 am: Rodeo Slack - Rodeo Grounds
  • 8:00 pm: 1st of 3 “2021” – Rodeo Performance – Rodeo Grounds
  • Mutton Bustin’ – Open to children ages 4-6, 60 lbs. or under. Enjoy the thrills & spills as these little riders compete nightly for 3’ foot trophies!
  • Kids Candy Toss – Nightly also.
  • 10:00 pm:  Slack Barrel Racing - Following Rodeo
     

Saturday – July 17, 2021

  • 10:30 am: Rodeo Parade – Mitchell’s Main Street, Mitchell, SD (Free Admission)
  • 2021 Rodeo Parade Theme – “The Golden Age of Rodeo; 5 Decades of the Corn Palace Stampede”
  • To Register Your Parade Entry – Click Here   Prizes are awarded to category winners.
  • 8:00 pm: 2nd of 3 “2021” – Rodeo Performance – Rodeo Grounds 
  • Mutton Bustin’ – Open to children ages 4-6, 60 lbs. or under. Enjoy the thrills & spills as these little riders compete nightly for 3’ foot trophies!   
  • Kids Candy Toss – Nightly also.

Sunday – July 18, 2021

  • 7:00 am:  Chili Cook Off Preparations Begin - Rodeo Grounds
  • 10:00 am: Cowboy Church Service – Rodeo Grounds – (Free Admission)  Bring your lawn chairs.
  • 11:00 am: Chili Cook Off – Rodeo Grounds – (Free Admission)
  • Chili is served to the public at 11:00 a.m. Prizes awarded to the “Best Chili” and “Best Camp Site”
  • 11:00 am: CPS - KMIT - Twin City Fan Family Day:  Wagon Rides, Inflatables, Train Rides, Face Painting, Family Games, Hot Dogs, Pepsi, and Snow Cones for the Kids. Fun for all!
  • 8:00 pm: 3rd of 3 “2021” – Rodeo Performance – Man Up Crusade Night - Rodeo Grounds 
  • Mutton Bustin’ – Open to children ages 4-6, 60 lbs. or under. Enjoy the thrills & spills as these little riders compete nightly for 3’ foot trophies!   
  • Kids Candy Toss – Nightly also.
