Akela Spa of Deadwood

Welcome to Akela Spa, an award-winning, one-of-a-kind destination spa developed by world-renown spa experts. At Akela you will experience carefully cultivated treatments designed to enhance beauty and achieve a deep relaxed state. We pride ourselves in choosing natural, pure ingredients in all we do and creating an atmosphere that mimics the magic of the Black Hills.

Keeping Everyone Safe

Akela Spa of Deadwood is open and understands that maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation is essential and critical to the health and safety of every person who walks through our doors. (Spa Director is a former RN with a full understanding of sanitizing).

We are keeping safe by:

  • Meeting or exceeding all state, local and regulatory guidelines relating to sanitation and hygiene throughout the day and between clients
  • Prohibiting employees who have a fever or are sick to work and/or sick clients to receive services
  • Screening clients by filling out the questionnaire
  • Laundering staff uniforms at the spa
  • Removing all non-essential decor and amenities i.e. pillows, magazines, snacks(take one from entry and take it home) and utilizing sanitizable menus
  • Assigning lockers to alternate use and placing robes and slippers in lockers after sanitizing
  • Washing Hands at the start and end of a treatment/service and asking our guests to wash hands frequently during their visit
  • Mask usage is dependent on service, provider, and client
  • Disinfecting credit card machines after each use and frequently disinfecting frequented areas touched throughout the spa.
  • Posting reminders throughout the spa to wash hands for 20 seconds
  • Providing hand sanitizer in every room of the spa

Social Distancing and More

Visitors to Akela Spa of Deadwood have the opportunity to spend time relaxing in the year-round Akela Garden. Enjoy natural social spacing in over 1500 sq feet of the Garden which includes a granite-topped fire pit, 2 outdoor hot tubs, a traditional sauna under a tipi, steam room and a far infrared sauna.
