Deadwood celebrated an exciting milestone on Friday with the grand opening of Outlaw Square. Located on Main Street Deadwood, Outlaw Square is the city’s newest year-round, family-friendly gathering space and entertainment venue.

This outdoor pavilion will host a variety of events including the future Wednesday Night Concert Series, ice skating on the brand-new synthetic ice “glice” rink, reenactments from the Deadwood Alive troupe, movie nights, holiday and sporting events and much more. The Square will serve as a central location for visitors to stop on Main Street Deadwood and take in the historic town while enjoying the sights, sounds and warm, downtown ambiance.

Located right in the heart of Deadwood in the lot that once held the Deadwood Theatre/Opera House, the venue was constructed to enhance the life of area residents as well as attract visitors. This public space, described as a “living room” for the community, will serve to entertain, educate and plan for the future growth of Deadwood for decades to come while preserving its rich past.

During its Grand Opening, Outlaw Square held free family activities complete with holiday food, carolers, a bonfire, visits with Santa and a tree lighting to commemorate the occasion. It's only the first of many fantastic events to come for Outlaw Square. Visitors are encouraged to check out this brand new destination for year-round entertainment in the Hills and keep an eye on the Square's events calendar for some of the biggest happenings in the Hills.
