Minuteman Missile National Historic Site was established in 1999 to preserve two 1960's era Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) sites and is the only national park unit specifically designated for the Cold War.

Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a ranger-guided tour of Launch Control Facility and Launch Control Center Delta-01. Launch Facility (missile silo) Delta-09, located at Interstate 90, Exit 116, is self-guided and is where a formerly operational Minuteman II missile is 80 feet deep in a silo. Covered by a glass viewing enclosure, there is a self-guided cell phone tour of the facility that is available during the summer and fall, and there will be a ranger on-site during the summer from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. presenting interpretive talks.

This Cold War historic site and unit of the National Park Service offer tours daily throughout the summer and fall. Tours take approximately 30 minutes and are limited to six people. Tour tickets are free and available on a first come, first serve basis at the brand new Visitor Center, just north of Interstate 90, Exit 131. During winter and spring months, tours are conducted daily, weather permitting, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Please note: The Visitor Center will be closed the month of April as they complete the installations of  permanent displays and exhibits throughout the new facility. In the interim, tour tickets may be obtained at the National Grasslands Visitor Center daily on a first come, first served basis. The Minuteman National Historic Site Visitor Center will reopen on April 30, 2016. A grand opening celebration will also take place later this summer.
