With National Park and Deadwood Gaming numbers reported for July – and Taxable Sales plus BH Hotel Occupancy % still through May – the Black Hills Tourism Index currently stands at +8.13%.

July saw another great month of traffic at the region’s National Parks with total rec visits to the six units up 16.3% overall. Over the course of the month, the parks saw a combined 97,571 more visitors than last year.

For the month of June, the Deadwood Total Gaming Handle came in up 3.6%, but total Gross Revenue reported was flat to June 2014.

Of course there is optimism that this year’s season will continue to stay up as more months are reported. The SD DOT is reporting Sturgis Rally traffic to be up 30% over last year with numbers approaching those of the early 2000s, and the 50th Annual Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup has been garnering extra media attention since late last year.
