Aggressive Hospitality

  • Aggressive Hospitality

Fresh off their recognition as the recipients of the 2015 George S. Mickelson Great Service Award at last week's Governor's Conference on Tourism, we reached out to the Comfort Suites Hotel & Convention Center for some insight on how they are inspiring visitors through their focus on "aggressive hospitality."

Here's one example of how they've gone above and beyond to ensure a quality stay for their guests:

"A guest called our hotel to make a reservation. During the course of the conversation, our Guest Service Agent discovered that the reservation was for a couple’s anniversary. When they arrived to check in, we surprised them with two water bottles with "Happy Anniversary" printed on a simple custom label for them - they really thought that was neat. When they got to their room, they found that our Housekeeping and Sales staff had an even bigger surprise. The room was prepared with rose petals on the bed in the shape of a heart, we provided a bubbly drink, bath goodies and a few towels were shaped as swans with a rose in the middle. They thanked us every day, multiple times during their stay, saying this was the most special anniversary they had had in a very long time, all thanks to the thoughtfulness of the staff at Comfort Suites."

They also stressed the importance in empowering all of their staff to have the authority to make decisions and have ownership over special gestures like the one in the example.

Do you have a story of how you've taken a few simple steps to provide amazing customer service to your guests? Share your stories with us! We want to hear your stories and share them throughout the next few months to help inspire others on how to provide our visitors with an unforgettable experience in the Black Hills and Badlands. If we can all take an extra step to wow and surprise our visitors, we can ensure an amazing tourism season in 2015!
