BH&B's Group Tour Marketing Efforts in 2021

  • BH&B's Group Tour Marketing Efforts in 2021

Group travel is a major economic driver for the state and region’s economy. According to the American Bus Association Foundation Motorcoach Group Tourism Economic Impact Study from 2018, motorcoach tourists generated $307.56 million in sales in South Dakota.

BH&B works diligently on your behalf to build relationships with and promote the region to these group tour operators. Here are some highlights from our efforts in the 2021 fiscal year.

TRAVEL TRADE SHOWS

Michelle Thomson, President and CEO of BH&B, attended the National Tour Association’s Virtual Travel Exchange (vTREX) in November. Tour professionals from around the globe gathered virtually at vTREX to create partnerships and build itineraries with people they can trust, like BH&B. Thomson held 30 networking appointments with buyers of all sizes, garnering a great deal of interest for the region from tour operators.

Also, BH&B sponsored a Rest & Relaxation Break and purchased a custom eBlast that was sent to all vTREX attendees.

Go West Summit hosted a digital event in March for U.S.-based domestic and international tour operators to design, develop, and maintain an American West tourism product. Thomson met with 35 international tour operators who provide products for FITS and groups.

The American Bus Association is holding its annual Marketplace OnDemand this year. Thomson attended and met with operators interested in starting or expanding their business in the region during virtual appointments in February and March.

GROUP TOUR MAGAZINE AD

In addition to face-to-face sales appointments with operators at travel professional trade shows, BH&B designed a full-page ad and placed it in two niche publications dedicated to connecting decision-makers within the group travel industry — Select Traveler (May/June issue) and Group Travel Leader (June issue). Thank you to our participating partners: Homestake Opera House, Palmer Gulch Lodge, Visit Rapid City, Mammoth Site, Wall Drug, Best Western Ramkota.

GROUP TOUR PROFILE SHEET

BH&B members had an opportunity to market their business to group tour operators by purchasing a business listing or ad space on the Group Tour Profile sheet. The Group Tour Profile Sheet is used during appointments with nearly 100 domestic tour operators and as a digital follow-up to trade shows, showcasing the many experiences throughout the region available for groups. A digital version is available to Travel Professionals on SeeTheBlackHills.com.

International PROFILE SHEET

The International Profile Sheet is used during appointments with international tour operators and media and as a digital follow-up to over 200 leads. A digital version is available to Travel Professionals on SeeTheBlackHills.com.

COMING SOON: Travel Professionals Guide
