Camping under the stars

Camping in the Black Hills & Badlands of South Dakota

Camping in the Black Hills is like no other. You can listen to the gentle lapping of waters against the shore of a sparkling mountain lake. Awaken to the sun warming a Badlands mesa. Drift off to sleep to the sound of wind softly sifting through stately ponderosa pines. Outdoor living in the Black Hills of South Dakota is superb!

Cool nights. Nary a mosquito. No wild bears at all.

Choose from hundreds of facilities rated by Trailer Life Magazine as some of the cleanest, best-developed camping in the U.S.

The Black Hills offer in-city RV Parks, overnight camps, luxury camping resorts, forest and lake campgrounds, back-country, hike-in camps, and even "horse-camps" for those who like to bring their horse along for trail riding. There are many private campgrounds -- including a half dozen destination resorts that offer every amenity you can name. The Black Hills National Forest offers campsites at 25 public campgrounds, and Custer State Park has 330 sites.
